The Spa Sensations 4” Memory Foam Mattress-Topper is sold at Walmart.com, and typically will cost you between $89 and $150 depending on size. It is not 4 inches of memory foam as the name suggests, but rather 1.5 inches of memory foam and 2.5 inches of standard foam. If you’ve searched for other memory foam mattress pads, you probably note right away that 4 inches is a pretty thick topper. You should certainly be aware of this before buying the product, as it could affect how your sheets fit or if they still fit at all. If you have fitted sheets that are already pretty tight, you may end up needing to buy “deep pocket” sheets to accommodate this.
Once you have that part figured out, this is a quality item. Despite the fact that the majority of it is NOT memory foam, you still get that nice conforming feeling of memory foam with just the 1 and a half inches. Frankly the combination of memory foam and regular foam makes for a nice night’s sleep. It wasn’t too soft nor too firm, so you’ll probably rate it somewhere in the middle on that scale. Certainly if you have a firm mattress now that you are hoping to soften up a bit, this would be a great option. If you have a mattress that is too soft, it may still work, but it is a little more difficult for any topper to cover up for a too-soft mattress because it tends to sag in the same places the mattress beneath it does.
As with any foam mattress topper, you will get some funny smells here. They typically go away after a few days, maybe a week. You’ll definitely want to take this out of the box and let it sit for at least 24 hours, so it can expand and air out. Also depending on the size, you may need a hand carrying this from room to room. The queen is over 30 pounds and the king over 40, but the dimensions make it somewhat awkward to install by yourself.
This guy probably won’t be as good as new for years, but it the Spa Sensations 4” Memory Foam Mattress-Topper is a great way to bridge the gap between an older uncomfortable mattress and buying a new one.
